VHS-C to Digital Conversion

VHS-C conversion starts at $24 a tape including GST. The rate is $45 for a single tape, $39 each for 2–4, $35 each for 5–10, $32 each for 11–20, $28 each for 21–30 and $24 each for 31 or more — exactly the same as full-size VHS, with no small-tape surcharge or handling fee. VHS-C also counts together with VHS, MiniDV, Video 8, Hi8, Digital 8, DVDs and audio cassettes for the bulk discount. Every price includes up to 3 hours per tape and an MP4 file, with the archival AVI/MOV master available at the same price on request, converted using professional converters, not consumer capture sticks.

Almost. VHS-C is the compact camcorder version of VHS: the same tape in a smaller cassette, made so family camcorders could be lighter. No — send the small cassettes exactly as they are. We convert VHS-C using professional converters, not consumer capture sticks. If you do have an adaptor, keep it; it makes no difference to the price or the result.

You aren't charged for it. There is no charge for blank tapes, or for transfers that can't be completed successfully — you only pay for footage we actually recover. VHS-C tapes are small and the tape inside is thin, so snapped tape and jammed spools are common; most can be repaired. Cleaning and repair is quoted separately from $28 per tape, and we'll always tell you before doing that work.

Most orders are ready in 7–10 business days from the day we receive them. If you need something urgently we can often turn a small order around in a day to a few days — tell us your deadline when you book and we'll tell you straight away whether we can meet it. Large collections take longer, and we'll give you a realistic date up front rather than a guess.

Every tape comes back as an MP4 for everyday viewing and sharing. If you also want the archival AVI or MOV master for long-term storage and editing, just ask — it is available at the same price. We can supply your files on a USB we provide, as a download, on a USB you bring in, or on an external hard drive for large collections. A DVD is optional at $12 per disc — one disc holds up to 2 hours, so a long recording is split across discs rather than compressed.
